Over the weekend I was in Newark, NJ for the THE NATIONAL HIP-HOP POLITICAL CONVENTION (aight, I was really there to visit my pops for Father's Day, but so what) and I was completely blown away by this event! The free, yes FREE, Convention lasted from Thrusday - Sunday and consisted of lectures, seminiars, press conferences, and concerts by an endless list of Hip Hop artists, pioneers and etc. Also, the participants stressed focusing on the community, politics and financial management/independence (reminiscent of the OLD MD Alliance). Unfortunately, I found out about the event while it was happening but it is held annually and DEFINATELY worth attending. My faith in Hip-Hop has been restored, JayeHunnie PS. Huge ups to the successful events that were held locally over the weekend!
